Live Courier Map
The Live Map shows you in real time where your couriers are and
What is it?
The Live Map shows you in real time where your couriers are and how much workload each one has — all on a single map, with no page reloads. It’s the view that answers questions like “where is John right now?”, “who has the most pending orders?”, or “do I have couriers not reporting in who should be working?”.
Who can see it?
| Role | Access |
|---|---|
| Super-admin / Admin / Manager | See the full map with all couriers |
| Courier | Doesn’t have access to this view — their position shows up on the supervisors’ map, but they don’t see their coworkers’ map |
| Customer | Doesn’t have access to this module |
If you don’t see the option in the menu, ask your administrator to check your role.
How to access it
From the side menu, open Live Map (next to Dashboard, with a pin icon) and choose Live couriers. In that same menu you’ll also find Geofences, the zones tool.
What you see on screen
The courier list (left column)
All your couriers, with a search box at the top. Each row shows:
- The courier’s name
- How many active orders are currently assigned to them
- Their next stop (the next order they need to deliver)
- A colored dot showing how fresh their last signal is
Click any courier in the list (or their pin on the map) to focus on them: the other pins dim, a dotted line to their next stop appears, and you’ll see a “Focusing on [name]” notice at the bottom of the map. To exit focus, click the ✕ on that notice or anywhere empty on the map.
Pin colors: how fresh is the signal
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🟢 Green | Reported their position less than 5 minutes ago |
| 🟠 Amber | Reported less than 30 minutes ago |
| ⚪ Gray | No recent signal, or never shared location |
A gray pin isn’t always a problem — it can be normal if the courier has no active deliveries at that moment (see “Why does a courier show up with no signal?”).
Courier detail
Opening a pin’s info window shows their active orders, their next stop, and shortcuts to call them or message them on WhatsApp without leaving the map.
Order layers on the map
Besides couriers, the map can show two order layers. They’re turned on with the Unassigned and Assigned buttons above the map; both start off and stay on for as long as you leave them active.
| Layer | What it shows |
|---|---|
| 🟠 Unassigned | Orders that don’t have a courier yet — your pending assignment queue |
| 🔵 Assigned | Orders already on the way with a courier |
Only orders whose address was correctly located show up on the map — if you just created an order, it may take a moment to appear while the system locates the address.
💡 If you have a lot of active orders at once, the map shows the first ones and lets you know there are more not shown, to keep the view from getting overloaded.
⚠️ The button may be grayed out even if it shows a number. The number counts all your orders in that layer, but the map can only draw the ones with a located address. If none of them have one yet, the button stays disabled — check the addresses on those orders.
Late orders
Orders whose estimated delivery date has already passed are marked with a red ring around their point on the map, so you can spot them at a glance.
Geofences layer
The Geofences button draws your configured zones on the map (Warehouse type in blue, Custom in gray) and repositions the view to show them all. The arrow next to the button opens the zone list: pick one and the map jumps straight to it with its info.
Zones are managed under Live Map → Geofences — there you can also see each one’s activity (who entered, when, and for how long).
Viewing a courier’s route
In the courier list, each row has a route icon: click it to see the route they traveled over the last 3, 12, 24, or 72 hours. If there was no recorded movement in the range you chose, the map tells you so instead of showing an empty route with no explanation.
The icon only appears for couriers who have already reported a position.
Alert for couriers with no signal
If a courier has active orders assigned but hasn’t reported their position in more than 30 minutes, a red alert appears with the number of cases. Click the alert to filter the list and see only those couriers — it’s the fastest way to spot someone who’s gone “dark” while they still have work pending.
Follow mode
When you choose a courier from the list, “Follow” mode turns on by itself: the map moves with them as they travel, so you don’t have to keep re-centering manually. (If you instead click directly on their pin on the map, follow mode stays as it was — so you can look at another courier without losing the one you were following.)
If you drag the map yourself, follow mode turns off on its own, so it doesn’t fight your own movement. To turn it back on, use the crosshair icon on the “Focusing on [name]” notice — it lights up when the mode is active.
Real-time updates
Positions update on their own as long as you keep the tab open — no need to reload the page. You’ll see a “Live” indicator when the real-time connection is active: in that mode, each courier appears on the map as soon as they report their position.
If that connection drops for any reason, you don’t lose the view: the map switches to polling positions on its own every 20 seconds until the live connection is restored.
Full screen
The Full screen button expands the map (along with the courier list and indicators) to use the whole screen — handy if you have this view on a dedicated monitor in the dispatch area.
If you don’t see couriers on the map
If the screen shows the “No couriers on the map yet?” notice, check these three points with the courier in question — in order, they’re the most common causes:
- They need to turn on “Share Location” in their profile inside the app: Profile → Share Location.
- They need active orders assigned. With no work assigned, the app automatically stops sharing location for privacy — it’s not a bug, it’s the expected behavior.
- They need to have the app open. With those three points covered, their pin appears within seconds (green if they’re actively reporting).
If your organization hasn’t onboarded any couriers yet, the map tells you so directly: create users with the courier role and they’ll show up here.
Location privacy
A courier’s position is only visible to supervisory roles (Admin, Manager, Super-admin) — never other couriers or customers. The courier app automatically stops sharing location as soon as they have no active deliveries assigned, so location is never shared “just because”: only while there’s work in progress.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a courier show up with no signal if I know they’re working?
Check that they have the app open and “Share Location” enabled in their profile. If their phone is in low-power mode or has no internet/GPS connection, the app can’t send their position until the signal is restored.
Why is a courier gray even though their phone is on?
They might not have any active order assigned right now — with no pending work, the app pauses sending location for privacy. As soon as you assign them an order and they open the app, their pin should reappear.
Does the map show where the courier was a week ago?
No — the route you can view covers at most the last 72 hours. To review a specific day’s full activity, use the Courier day report.
Can I assign an order directly from the map?
Not yet. The map helps you decide who’s best suited to take an unassigned order (by seeing who’s nearby), but the actual assignment is done from the orders screen.
Why do some orders not show up on the map even though they’re active?
Only orders whose address the system was able to locate on the map are shown. If an address is incomplete or ambiguous, that order won’t have a point on the map until it’s corrected or located manually from the order’s detail view.
What happens if I close the map tab?
Nothing is lost — the map only shows live information while it’s open. Couriers keep sharing their position normally; when you reopen the map you’ll see the updated state.
