When an order is shared with a partner company, it exists in both dashboards at once. That raises a practical question: if both companies can edit the same order, who wins when there’s a difference?
The answer is a single rule, and almost all of the network’s behavior follows from it:
Whoever delivers controls execution. Whoever originates the shipment controls the shipment data.
The rule in detail
| Data | Controlled by | What it means in your dashboard |
|---|---|---|
| Shipment status | Whoever delivers | If you outsourced the order, you can’t change its status: your partner has the package |
| Photo, signature, who received it | Whoever delivers | They appear automatically on your order when the partner completes the delivery |
| Delivery date | Whoever delivers | Recorded automatically with the delivery |
| Recipient’s address | Whoever originated the shipment | If it’s you, your corrections travel to the partner |
| Recipient’s contact info | Whoever originated the shipment | Same as the address |
| Package description and weight | Whoever originated the shipment | Same as the address |
| Amount to collect from the recipient | Whoever originated the shipment | If you correct it before delivery, the partner’s charge updates automatically |
| Freight payment status | Each company separately | Your billing and your partner’s don’t mix |
If you outsourced the order (you originate it)
You can correct the shipment data at any time, and the correction travels to your partner: if the customer tells you the address was wrong, you edit it in your dashboard and the partner’s courier sees the corrected address.
You can’t change the status. The package is physically with your partner; only they know if it’s already out for delivery or if the recipient wasn’t there. Your order updates itself with each progress step.
If you correct the amount to collect before it’s delivered, your partner’s charge adjusts to the new amount. Once the order is delivered, the amount no longer changes: the charge has already happened, and changing it would throw the accounts off.
If you received the order from a partner (they originate it)
You work the order like any of your own: assign a courier, log events, deliver with photo and signature. All that progress is reflected automatically in your partner’s dashboard.
The shipment data isn’t yours to correct. If you edit the address on a received order, the change stays in your dashboard and doesn’t reach your partner; and if they later correct that data, their version replaces yours.
This is intentional: the customer who made the shipment is your partner’s customer, and they’re the ones who can confirm the correct address with that person. If two companies could correct the same data, whoever writes last would erase the other’s work without anyone knowing.
What if your courier finds the address is wrong?
This is a real, common case: the courier arrives, asks around, and finds the right place. Since the data isn’t yours to correct, the path is:
- Log what you found on the order — an event or a note with the correct address puts the finding in writing, with a date.
- Let your partner know so they can confirm with their customer and make the correction.
That way the correct data ends up where it should, backed by whoever can confirm it, instead of staying in a notebook.
Why progress sometimes looks summarized
Information travels automatically between the two dashboards, but it isn’t always instant. Two normal things worth knowing:
- During high-volume periods it can take a few minutes. The send retries automatically until it succeeds; no update is lost along the way.
- You may not see every intermediate step. If the partner logs several updates in quick succession, your dashboard may show only the most recent one. The final status — and in particular the delivery, with its photo and signature — always arrives.
If an order goes a long time without reflecting progress your partner has already made, check the network dashboard: orders with send issues show up in the Failed counter and can be retried. If it’s still not resolved, contact support with the order number.
